Quatre ans après”Mon Afrique”, Mokobé est de retour avec un nouvel album intitulé “Africa Forever”.  Le premier single de l’album “Ou la la” qui a été dévoilé en juillet dernier,  fait un tabac en ce moment.

Les mélomanes pourront retrouver dans ce nouvel  opus des titres comme ”Mali Kadi featuring avec Oumou Sangaré”, “Ya Fama avec Fodé Baro”, ”On est ensemble avec Soum Bill”, entre autres.  L’artiste Franco-Malien a rendu un vibrant hommage à sa chère patrie le Mali à travers deux titres ”Mali Débout”et ”Mali Kadi’’ en featuring avec la diva du Wassoulou, Oumou Sangaré. A travers ces deux titres, Mokobé met le Mali en avant avec la contribution de la diaspora.

L’ incontournable Fally Ipupa qu’on ne présente plus au public a été nominé quatre fois aux MTV Music Awards 2010 dans les catégories suivantes: Artiste de l’année, Meilleur Male , Meilleur vidéo et Best Francophone.

Barbara Kanam, une autre de ses compatriotes de la RDC a également été nominée dans la catégorie Meilleur Femme. Fally Ipupa animera la soirée de remise des trophées du MTV Music Awards, prévu le Samedi 11 Décembre 2010 au Centre Expo Eko de Lagos, au Nigéria.

La star de la musique congolaise, DiCaprio aka Fally Ipupa continue de multiplier son succés. Récemment, Fally Ipupa a fait partie des prestigieux invités des Grammy Awards 2010, une cérémonie aux Etats-unis, qui honore les meilleurs de la musique dans le monde entier et qui a déjà vue la participation de célébres artistes Africains comme youssou N’Dour, Césaria Evoria ainsi que Mory Kanté et Dobet Gnahoré.

Rappelons que son premier album “Droit de Chemin” l’a propulsé au devant de la scène internationale et son duo avec la star Americaine Olivia de G-Unit dans ”Chaise Electrique” lui a grandement ouvert les portes du showbiz.

Après trois années d’absence, Youssou N’Dour est de retour à Bercy le 19 juin 2010 pour renouer avec ses mélomanes la célébration de cette fête traditionelle du grand bal, qui sera spéciale cette année du fait qu’elle marque le 10ème anniversaire de ce grand événement .

Ce sera l’occasion d’un grand spectacle ou les fans pourront savourer et danser aux pas des dernières chansons de l’album “Salagne Salagne” , ainsi que celui de “Dakar-Kingston”, toute dernière oeuvre, entièrement reggae de N’dour. Ainsi, la salle vibrera aux rythmes mbalax et reggae du Super Etoile de Youssou et des invités surprises seront au programme de ce rendez-vous explosif de l’été 2010.

Ainsi, 14 candidats sont en lice pour le titre d’Africa Star 2010 qui va se dérouler du 20 Mars au 29 Mai 2010 .

Les pays Africains représentés sont : le Sénégal, la Cote d’Ivoire, le Maroc, l’Algérie, le Togo, le Bénin, le Mali, le Burkina, le Gabon, le Cap-Vert, les deux Congo, le Cameroun et une candidate de la diaspora (Guadeloupe, Martinique). Le lancement de la deuxième saison a eu lieu le vendredi 19 mars. Tout au long de cette compétition, des artistes célébres tels que Youssou N’Dour, Salif Keita, Alpha Blondy, Magic System, Kaysha, Papa Wemba, Fally Ipupa ou encore Sean paul accompagneront ces jeunes chanteurs avec leur expertise musicale.

Cette émission sera diffusé à travers les différentes chaines de télévision Africaines comme Africable, 3A Telesud et Canal 2 International. Le public aussi bien qu’Africain, qu’international désignera à travers leurs votes le “Nouveau talent d’Africa Star 2010.” Rappellons qu’ Africa Star est une émission qui permet de découvrir de nouveaux talents en permettant aux candidats d’apprendre les principes du métier sous la supervision de professionnels du domaine. En effet, ce dernier, koriste Malien, a remporté le trophée du meilleur Album de musique traditionelle pour son disque “Douga Mansa”. Cet album qui a été couronné en décembre dernier du prix du meilleur disque de World Music en Amérique, est son quatrième opus. Mamadou Diabaté qui chante avec finesse l’histoire du peuple Mandingue, est installé aux Etats-unis depuis plus d’une quinzaine d’années.

Par ailleurs, l’Ivoirienne Dobet Gnahoré a remporté le grammy du Best Urban/Alternative Performance avec “Aleha” en duo avec India Arie. Elle devient ainsi la première artiste Ivoirienne a obtenir un grammy awards. Dobet s’est récemment produite au Kennedy center de Washington, à l’occasion d’une soirée qui rendait hommage à Martin Luther King et qui a été rehaussé de la présence du président des Etats-Unis Barack Obama et de sa famille. Dobet s’apprête à mettre sur le marché en mars son troisième album intitulé “Djekpa la you” (les enfants du monde). 

Après Ladysmith Black Mambazo, Miriam Makeba, Harry Belafonte, Ali Farka Toure, Cesaria Evoria ou encore Youssou N’Dour, Mamadou Diabaté et Dobet Gnahoré rejoignent le cercle restreint d’artistes Africains récompensés lors de cette cérémonie. Rappelons aussi que les Maliens Amadou et Mariam (Welcome to Mali), Oumou Sangaré (Seya) ainsi que Femi Kuti (Day by Day) etaient également nominés dans la catégorie “Meilleur album de musique du monde”. contemporain”.

Damon Dash isn’t having such a positive run right now.  He has lost his rights to Pro-Keds, and is going through foreclosure for two of his homes.  Let’s hope this is a temporary phase.

The show started about 45 minutes late due to some technical difficulties. Emcees Washington Post columnist and Associate Editor, Eugene Robinson, and newscaster Paula Zahn, kept the flow going between performances. My only peeve was that, although this was called Thisday Africa Rising Festival, the emphasis was on Jay-Z and John Legend. I thought the idea was to present the talent that is rampant in Africa. I was surprised to note that the people seated around me (press, no less), were unaware of the fame and respect the African performers on the roster command. It appears that Eugene Robinson and Paula Zahn weren’t completely aware either. I wasn’t the only one who thought so.

Youssou N’dour was the first act of the evening and, with barely an introduction (the emcees got the crowd riled up about Jay-Z and John Legend and then stated that first there would be ‘other performers’ and then they would come out to sing) he came out and made a statement. He said, ” I might not be a headliner, but I am Africa and THIS is AFRICA rising”. He gave a rousing show and had the crowd on their feet when he sang about Africa.

Next was a great fashion show featuring the Resort 2009 collection by Momo. Flowing elegant clothing with lots of sweepingly stylish lines ruled the runway. Liya Kebede started it off to a rousing cheer, but the favorite female model of the night was definitely Alek Wek who had people chanting her name and cheering for her when she walked onto the stage. Deola Sagoe, whose clothing and design are influenced by Victorian times, showcased her collection of very unique styles. The doors to the changing rooms had to be locked when armored guards brought in Chris Aire’s collection valued at a whopping $450 million. Some pieces had their own guards, including the $20 million dress. Tyson Beckford had women swooning in their seats as they watched him model pieces of Chris Aire’s jewelry.

John Legend had the ladies ready to swarm the stage with his songs and energy. His song, ‘Good Morning’ that will be featured on his new album, coming out soon, was a hit. Jay-Z wowed the crowd with several of his songs in rapid succession, keeping the entire audience on their feet. He was impressed with how many people knew all the words to his songs, and graciously thanked several people in the crowd for being true fans.

D’banj and 2Face Idibia were supposed to be at the show, but unconfirmed reports stated that they had some issues with visas and their flights. Overall the show was wonderful and the Africans who performed or showcased their collections did a great job of showing that we have abundant talent in Africa, and yes, we can compete, and beat, anyone, anywhere with our talent.
